Who is using VISTA here?

If you are using VISTA, could you please let me know if it works well with the BassBox project?

See below the report I got from Jordi Vallès:

Today I tested the superb Bassbox on my new PC with Windows Vista Home Premium and some strange details has been detected. The BassPatch43 has been applied just before the test.

As you can see on the screen image attached the client area appears twice, but controls only one. Also some strange is the frame or border around the clock gadget on the top right corner.

My new PC is a HP Pavillion Dual Core Media Center m7760.es-m. This model has Graphics Intel Media Accelerator 950 integrated. The scren is HPw19 with a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels.

On my old PC with Windows XP no problems has been detected.

Hi Patrice.

No, I don't use VISTA, but I have a small problem with XP Prof with SP2 and Bassbox.

Resizing to larger an back to smallest for several times leaves artefacts in the right-upper corner and
the left-bottom corner.

There are some dots left on the screen. (White on a black background)
They are inline with the topside and leftside of the window.

I get that too during resizing and wondered if it might be rounding errors of some kind.

But as for Vista, I won't be using it unless forced to do so.

This has always been an issue with window using regions on XP, and fortunatly this has been solved on VISTA.

This comes from the fact that the XP desktop is not correctly updated when the window is resized to a smaller size. The solution would be to invalidate the desktop to force it to redraw, but this could lead to other problem if the underlaying application are slow to repaint themselves.
Indeed this problem exists since Windows 98. I must check how I did in WinLIFT to work around this problem.

It is not up to the BassBox application to repaint the Windows desktop after the window has been resized, however I shall see if I could find a work around.

I couldn't have found VISTA compatibility issues with my own commercial projects, without checking and working with it.

As Yoda would say:
"Very lucky you are, if editing your software no need you have" (to make them work on VISTA).

It's the home market where you need VISTA.

Most businesses are strenuously avoiding VISTA because it requires new hardware and breaks so many in-house applications. Microsoft must surely address these issues in future VISTA updates, or they risk a loss of confidence and a mass exodus to Linux or on-line services.

VISTA should at least have a legacy mode to support older software.

Davide,

VISTA Home Basic is not able to work in DWM composited mode, and it can't run the latest DirectX version.
Thus the result with BassBox could be unpredictable (however it should detect that the DWM mode is OFF).
If you encounter problems, then let me know and i will fix them.

I don't agree with the question "Are you all hobbyist programmers?" 

For me an hobbyist programmer has a regular work that is not programming,
while a business programmer earn his living doing programming.
As you can see no offense there, but when you are doing programming for others, and especialy when dealing with the end user mass market, then you can't ignore VISTA.
That is my point
