Title: Performance Monitoring
Post by: Theo Gottwald on January 20, 2012, 11:54:31 AM
Today when we had 26 Guests and 4 Users online, i experienced a bit longer loading times.
We are monitoring this also trying to find out where the bottleneck could be.

For this, I would like to ask our Forum Members to write here their Forum-Performance experinces.

At what time, do you have which performance?
If possible add "how many users / guests" are online (is shown at the bottom of the starting page).

Actually while ia m writing this we are at about 20 users and i have optimal performance.

13 guests & 2 users

had a long stall trying to get to forums from main page.
2-3 minutes then I reloaded main page and tried again.
got a server busy message.
went back to main page & tried again.
5-10 second delay then the forum page came up.

it happened  around 12:43pm.

Forum speed is not consistent. Sometime very fast, sometime very slow, sometime in between.

Edit to add:
gif filenames are GMT+8 so you know when they were taken.

In the last screenshot 2012-01-21_124753, it shows the progress bar still loading something even when the "Page created in 0.124 seconds..." is shown. Somethings are still being loaded and not necessary 1 item because this can be repeated with another 1 or more items. This is normal as you can see in many websites.

The point to note is that the "Page created in 0.124 seconds..." thing may not be correct result and may have been longer.

You can test with different locations and browsers.

PS: Did some changes today. Keep reports coming please.

I have some mix results. Got a time-out from Sydney. Also tested from Frankfurt as that should be the nearest to your server. Got a relatively long "time to first byte":

Frankfurt

Sydney

London

NY

Singapore

As this is intermittent, when I next have problem accessing your forum I will do another test.

Theo,

No real problem with performance but someone keeps changing my karma points.
Up & down and with no posts by me.

Is the site still being hacked? I've had a few times where it took a long time to bring up
the forum ( it said it took over 30 seconds to create the page ) but I figured that
most of the delays I'm seeing were on my end ( these times it took around 0.1 seconds
to create the page ).

The DOS attack stopped time ago, when I put the forum in maintenance mode for a while.

I can't know who is playing with the karmas because this action it's not logged. Abuses like this only lead to restrictions, such disabling it. I have deleted your smites.

Something odd is going on with my karma. It's gone up 4 points since my last post.

I think I"ll just ignore it. It doesn't seem that anyone is changing it based on my posts.

When I first came to the forum a few minutes ago  it took over 54 seconds to build the page.
And there were only 12 guests active.
I think that makes it about 5pm your time so maybe the rest of the server was busy.

Your time February 25 02:10am.

Very slow.  Took 69 seconds to create the initial Forum page.
103 seconds to create the next page.
58 seconds to create a 3rd page.
Strange but only 0.2 seconds to create this page.

Seems like something is still hogging the server.

Its not a speed wizzard here, but it seems to work.

Still very slow at times, especially today,

Had times of 95 & 127 & 50 & 48 seconds creating pages.
Only 1 user & a couple guests online.

Same  for me, one single user, no lurkers, and must wait for at least 50 seconds each time i click on a link to see the new page.

Most of the time, i couldn't use anymore this forum !!!
